I need some advice for building a street rod based on a Tucker. I have most of the bodywork and chassis details worked out. One problem, what can be used as a transmission that would work on the car?I was thinking of using a 67-70 transaxle from an Eldorado and disabling one end of it to accept a drive chain instead of a CV axle. The other end would then have an external differental(after disabling the inner), to provide power to the back wheels. This set up can be found on
http://www.lambolounge.com/Chassis/Engine/350/index.asp. I find this works for longitudal rear wheel drive as Idas version is transverse and almost a mid-engine car. I will have some plans layed out for the whole thing soon, so that they can be viewed on request.

The link is no longer active for Lambolounge. I apologize for posting an invalid link. The info on the site is useful for those attempting to build a Tucker replicar. The site can be reached at it's mainpage at
